This song from Qanoon (1943) was used 7 years later in a Panjabi film, Madari, in a satirical way, reminding people that the partition did not change much. Of course, the song was in Panjabi and javaanee was changed to aazaadee. In Panjabi the refrain is 'main koee jhooTh boliya?'

In the first 5 years, sound was mostly recorded on film, either the same as video or separately. The record companies did not come into play. So, until 1935, very few gramophone records of Hindi films were issues. Even a super-hit like Devdas had only 2 records issued. The first Hindi film to have all its songs on records was Achhut Kanya (1936).
